Carol Jackson Cashion
Carol is the Education Program Director at South Africa Partners, where since 2012 she has worked to identify, develop and scale innovative approaches to strengthen and support early development and early learning in South Africa. An educator by training, Carol has been traveling regularly to South Africa since she spent a year in the Eastern Cape with her family in 2004, where she worked both as a classroom teacher of young adult students trying to bridge the gap between high school and university and with preschool teachers in low-resource Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers. Her experience in South Africa showed her how much the United States has to learn from South Africa, and at South Africa Partners she has seen how U.S. resources - both intellectual and financial - can be leveraged to support her South African colleagues as they work to address their nation's challenges. Carol holds an A.B. in History and Literature from Harvard University, and both an M.A. and M.Ed. from the University of Virginia.
