Karen Shmukler, Ed.D., L.M.F.T.

From South Africa, Karen currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services in the Public Schools of Newton, Massachusetts. Prior to that she served as Senior Executive of Wraparound and Child and Family Services at Brockton Area Multi-Services, in Brockton. Karen consults nationally on wraparound and systems of care in public child welfare, mental health and education.
Karen completed her undergraduate and postgraduate education at The University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg South Africa. Her dissertation focus for her Masters in Clinical Psychology was in the development of resilience in children exposed to violence. She completed her doctoral degree in Education at Nova Southeastern University in Florida, with a concentration in the development of community based networks of care for children with complex needs and their families. Karen joined South Africa Partners’ Board of Directors in 2015.
