Masifunde Sonke: Let Us Read Together is a collection of 30 African children’s books and an audiotape with themes of justice, hope, and renewal. They were chosen by educators from South Africa and the U.S. based on their literary excellence and their appeal to children in both South Africa and the United States. All of the books were written and illustrated by South Africans. The project promotes literacy and a joy of reading among students in South Africa by providing them with books which reflect their own experiences. Masifunde Sonke also strengthens and supports the South African publishing industry.
For every book you buy, South Africa Partners donates a book in your name to an under-funded school in South Africa.
