Donor Advised Funds

A Donor Advised Fund at SA Partners can be set up by individuals, groups, or companies. Contributors to the Fund receive a tax-credit.  SA Partners manages the administrative and grant making duties associated with the Fund, including gift acknowledgements, grant agreements, fund transfers, as well as reporting to the donor and securing reports from the grantee. Kugler Family Fund

Since 2008, the Kugler Family has been working with the A.V. Bukani School in Port Elizabeth to provide teacher professional development workshops.  The Kuglers wanted to do more so they established this fund and invited family and friends to contribute. Thanks to their generosity, the Kuglers were able to collect and ship 25,000 books to the school! In addition, they were able to purchase the 40-foot shipping container that carried the books to South Africa.  The container will be trucked to the school, fitted with windows and doors, and it will become the library.

 

Open Books, Open Minds Fund

After a visit to South Africa, the donors of this Fund wanted to make books more accessible to students in the Eastern Cape and train teachers in how to better utilize books and library materials in the classroom.

SA Partners worked with the donors to help them establish relationships with local schools.   The Open Books, Open Minds Fund was set up to support 3 schools in the East LondonMelani Cluster Schools.  In addition, the Fund will enhance the teachers’ understanding of best practices through professional development workshops as a way to promote literacy within the classrooms. area.  The Fund will provide high quality fiction and non-fiction books to A. W. Barnes, Parkside Primary and the Melani Cluster Schools.  In addition, the Fund will enhance the teachers’ understanding of best practices through professional development workshops as a way to promote literacy within the classrooms.

 

Bristol-Myers Squibb Kids Care Fund

Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation (BMSF) wanted to provide a vehicle for Bristol-Myers Squibb employees to make contributions (including payroll-deducted contributions) matched by BMSF, to aid non-profit organizations in southern Africa that provide care and support for children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.  BMSF established the Kids Care Fund to assist in this effort.  SA Partners works in tandem with the BMS Foundation staff to manage the other administrative aspects of this fund.
